    Surface treatment

AWON uses a variety of surface treatment techniques to protect your parts against corrosion and rust. The most common techniques are galvanising, electroplating, powder coating, KTL, wet painting and hardening. We can supply every product to colour specifications provided by you.

    Galvanising and electroplating

Galvanising is a common form of surface treatment for preventing corrosion. In this process, a thin coating of zinc, nickel, aluminium, chromium or magnesium is deposited on steel or iron parts. In hot-dip galvanising, the metal requiring protection is immersed in a bath of molten zinc maintained at a high temperature. In electrogalvanising, an electric current is passed through a solution containing metal salts to connect or bond the metals.

    Powder coating

Powder coating is an electrostatic process in which powder is applied to electrically charged metal parts using a spray gun. During curing in the oven, the heat causes the powder particles to first liquefy, then become viscous, and finally harden into a beautiful, durable coating. We determine the desired colour in advance, and then carefully specify the basic materials, temperature and speed of the production line to achieve that result.

    KTL

    KTL-treatment

If desired, powder coating can be preceded by a KTL step.  KTL stands for Kathodische Tauch Lackierung and is a process in which a highly rust-resistant coating is applied and strongly bonded to the metal surface via an immersion bath system, to ensure that hard-to-reach areas are also treated.

    Wet painting

Wet painting is a surface treatment that we mainly use in the production of counterweights. In this process, we use a paint spraying system to apply liquid paint to the products. The use of the wet paint system allows us to apply one or more coats of paint.

    Hardening

Steel is an inherently strong material, but it can be made much stronger and more wear-resistant by hardening it. A special heat treatment method is used for this. Steel hardening is a technique that we mainly use for steel pins.
